Monty Python's Life of Brian (1979)

Brian: I'm not the Messiah! Will you please listen? I am not the Messiah, do you understand? Honestly!
Girl: Only the true Messiah denies His divinity.
Brian: What? Well, what sort of chance does that give me? All right! I am the Messiah!
Followers: He is! He is the Messiah!
Brian: Now, fuck off!
[silence]
Arthur: How shall we fuck off, O Lord?

Verdict:  10/10

The amazingly mad Pythons (Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, and Michael Palin) return for their 2nd movie Monty Python's Life of Brian after their hilarious 1st movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The movie is a cheeky irreverent satire about religiosity & to some extent politics.

Directed by Terry Jones, the movie chronicles the life of Brian Cohen, born at the same time & place (adjacent stable) as Jesus. Brian initially joins an anti-Roman political group, then much to his annoyance is mistaken for a messiah & is finally crucified.

Six Pythons play around 40 characters in the movie. Brian (Graham Chapman), Pontius Pilate (Michael Palin), Mandy (insanely funny Terry Jones) are some amongst the many funniest characters that you will ever see.

There is not actually much to say about the movie except that this is one of the greatest movies that I've ever seen, non stop laugh riot from the opening "three wise man" scene to the closing song "always look on the bright side of life", I literally have to stop watching to give rest to my aching jaws after the "Biggus Dickus" scene, if you haven't seen this movie run to a rental & rent the DVD as soon as you read this or a better thing is to buy the DVD immediately & I'm sure you won't regret it.

My big thanks to George Harrison (of Beatles) because he was responsible for the film's funding as the original producers have backed out at the last minute fearing the content of the movie. George Harrison was a big fan of Monty Python & apparently he thought that this would be his last chance to see them together.

Brian: Look, you've got it all wrong! You don't NEED to follow ME, You don't NEED to follow ANYBODY! You've got to think for your selves! You're ALL individuals!
The Crowd: Yes! We're all individuals!
Brian: You're all different!
The Crowd: Yes, we ARE all different!
Man in crowd: I'm not...
The Crowd: Sch!

My reviews of the other 2 Python movies - Monty Python & the Holy Grail and Monty Python's The Meaning of Life.
